TEACHING ARTISTIC WORKSHOPS:

2019 – Summer Residency Program at the Fire Station Museum – 1 week workshop for selected High School students about relief printmaking, introduction and advanced techniques.

2019 – Introduction to Woodcut Relief Printmaking – 2 day workshop at Qatar Art Center for adults.

2019 – Introduction to Linocut Relief Print – 1 month workshop at Qatar Academy for 5th grade students

2018 – Summer Residency Program at the Fire Station Museum – 1 week workshop for selected High School students about relief printmaking, introduction and advanced techniques.

2018 – Introduction to Relief Print – 2 week Qatar Academy Workshop for 2nd and 3rd grade students – taught them the basics of relief printing using foam, collectively had them create a 2 meter by 4 meter mural from their finished prints to be permanently displayed in the school. Doha, Qatar.

2018 – Introduction to Relief Print – Katara Arts Center Workshop, taught a various age range of children the basics of relief printing.

2017 – Introduction to Wooden Frame Building – FireStation Museum Workshop for Adults, taught them how to build wooden frames for their artwork. Doha, Qatar.

WORK & LIFE EXPERIENCE:

THE FIRESTATION ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM:         www.firestation.org.qa                        09.2017-06.2018

Position: Artist-in-Residence. Woodblock Printmaking. Honed my skills carving woodcuts by hand with chisels and printing on paper, created the largest and most complex work of my career. Taught workshops for students and adults.

Position – Junior Architect: Responsible for creating construction documents and specifications for both residential and commercial New Construction as well as Existing Building. Created 3D models and presentation materials.

 

ADVENTURE SABBATICAL:                                                                                                          04.2014 – 01.2016

Personal House Construction: Designed, planned, and built by hand my first home, a 250 sq.ft. “tiny house.”

Pacific Crest Trail Thru-Hike: Planned, prepared for, and hiked the entire 4,250-kilometer wilderness backcountry trail across the United States, from Mexico to Canada.

New Zealand Travel: Explored the country for 6 months, including hiking 1448 kilometers on the Te Araroa wilderness backcountry trail.

Position – Museum Exhibit Designer: Designed interpretive exhibits and interactive environments for new museums, as well as completed presentation materials.  Contributed to all phases from conceptual design to fabrication documentation, including master layout and interpretive planning. Coordinated information between the client, consultants, and design team.

 

TRAVEL SABBATICAL:                                                                                                                01.2012 – 05.2012

Central America and Mexico: Backpacked from Costa Rica through Mexico. Painted murals, attended Spanish lessons, and became scuba certified.

 

NEW JERSEY ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY – DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND FORESTRY:        05.2011 – 09.2011

Position – Appalachian Trail Ridgerunner: Responsible for patrolling 117 kilometers of the Appalachian Trail. Taught visitors about environmental ethics and safety. Responded to Search and Rescue.

 

TRAVEL SABBATICAL:                                                                                                                04.2010-11.2010

Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike: Planned, prepared for, and hiked the entire 3,505-kilometer trail across the United States from Georgia to Maine.

Position – Designer, Junior Architect – Retail/Commercial Studio: Contributed to all phases of conceptual design, design development, and construction documentation.  Created renderings, presentations, and construction documents.
